One question people ask all the time is “how do I get started eating more raw and vegan foods in my diet when my life is so busy?” Great question! When you make the decision to bring whole foods into your life you realize you might need some support to make that happen, and society doesn’t make it any easier.
Eating is not supported by readily available healthy options in most situations. You are met with choices that include eating high sugar, high fat foods, or those with too much salt. Traveling is particular challenging if you don’t have access to places where you can get healthy options.
So making the switch to a whole foods lifestyle requires a learning curve and determination. I’ve been working on eating better most of my life and I’m still at it. This site is designed to be helpful to the person with an active busy life who wants to make eating raw and vegan foods a natural daily activity.
You might not be ready to be 100% raw or vegan. That’s alright. Adding just one day a week of plant-based foods to your diet will be of great benefit to your health.
A Bit of Background
I’ve been interested in alternative and natural health since very early in life, especially because eating was always a painful time for me. It seemed everything I ate gave me digestive problems.
I started eating vegetarian in college and things got better but I loved cheese and yogurt. I didn’t know a thing about being lactose intolerance until decades later.
When my grandmother suffered from debilitating arthritis I really got into the healing properties of food to help her out. I learned to prepare her food without salt, substituting herbs and spices which helped her out over time.
After a few years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa where I ate whatever was available, I was nutrient deficient on top of feeling really lethargic. Fortunately a natural health doctor found a Selenium deficiency along with several other low minerals and got me back on track.
I also started having issues with high cholesterol and other annoying issues. I knew it was time to do something about it because I refused to live a life on pills and possibly surgery if I could do something about it through lifestyle changes.
I wanted to study alternative nutrition but I couldn’t find any accredited courses at the time that focused on whole foods as a source of healing. I found schools that had the information I wanted to learn and also got all the education I could on my own. Meanwhile I earned degrees in marketing, organization behavior, and finally a PhD. in Human & Organization Systems. Still, I continued to study food, health and wellness “on the side.”
After years of teaching, consulting and coaching in the field of small business and organizational development I decided to look into natural health studies again. Now I’m a Certified Health and Weight Loss Coach with a specialty in Plant-Based Nutrition, Raw/Vegan Chef, and member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). I even have a radio show “Seasoned Women Health Radio” that’s heard world wide by up to 3.5 millions listeners on the Amazing Women of Power Network.
This site represents my continued enthusiastic love of food, cooking and raw foods preparation. Yet, as a busy, professional woman it also lets me share ideas on how you can make fast, fabulous foods a regular part of your daily life with ease. I want you to make wholesome, nourishing, and healing but delicious, succulent and memorable foods an enjoyable part of each day.
I’ll definitely be sharing my own meal creations with you including my recipes that let you enjoy new taste adventures.
Let me hear from you – a lot! I want you to make this your “go-to” site for fast Raw & Vegan foods for your busy life.
